In 2006, ATO Architects was commissioned by Avamtcorp Nigeria limited to provide Architectural Design services for an office development in Oniru Estate of the Victoria Island, Lagos. Prior to that time, the Executive Directors of Avamtcorp had been in discussions with a South African Architectural Firm and were seeking for a competent indigenous firm to collaborate with.
The client’s intention was for a state-of-the-art office building providing training facilities and virtual office spaces to corporate businesses in the Lagos Metropolis. After some discussions Avamtcorp commissioned ATO Architects fully to revise the original concept drawings and provide pre- and post-contract services up to building completion.
ATO Architects pulled together a team of structural and building services engineers to develop construction documentation. Construction commenced in mid-2007 and was completed in May 2009. The building has 2400sqm of rentable office spaces on 3 floors. The first floor has about 16 training rooms while the 2 upper levels open spaces for flexible partitioning. Parking space for 40 cars was provided on the ground floor. The building was fitted with modern Mechanical and Electrical facilities such as an 8-passenger lift, Access control, Central Air conditioning, CCTV, Burglar Alarm Systems, Photo Sensor Automatic doors, Automated Entrance Gate and intercom. The building was designed to have a simple, minimalist look. Large terraces were introduced on the front façade to create informal break out spaces. An accented leaf green colour highlights the terraces and contrasts with the frameless curtain walling system. Emphasis was placed on optimizing the available land space.
