Hotel Design proposal for Wemabod Estates

ATO Architects submitted its design proposal for the proposed WEL Towers in Abuja as a vibrant mixed-use development integrating hospitality, residential, retail, entertainment, and commercial spaces.

ATO Architects Ltd designed the proposed WEL Towers in Abuja as a comprehensive mixed-use development bringing together hospitality, residential, commercial, retail, dining, and entertainment functions within a unified architectural composition. Conceived for a prominent site in Abuja, the development incorporates hotel accommodation, one- to three-bedroom apartments, shops, offices, restaurants and coffee shops, conference facilities, boutique retail, and cinema halls. The scheme is organised into three distinct yet interconnected blocks, linked by a semi-basement car park and landscaped courtyard, allowing the different uses to maintain their individual identities while functioning as an integrated destination.

The design was inspired by the concept of creating “separate yet co-joined” facilities that could respond flexibly to changing user requirements while establishing a world-class mixed-use environment. Careful attention was given to the relationship between the building and its site, the separation of vehicular and pedestrian movement, and the creation of usable outdoor spaces. Retail areas are arranged around a distinctive internal street, while skylit atriums introduce natural light into the complex, reinforcing a sense of openness, connectivity, and activity throughout the development.
